ADDICTION RECOVERY MINISTRIES
I CORINTHIANS 10: 13
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make a way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
PURPOSE & FUNCTION
The ARM serves as an outreach ministry to those persons who are experiencing challenges with any kind of substance abuse or destructive habit. Our purpose is to also serve as a support group to the family members and loved ones of those who are experiencing such challenges. The ARM requires committed volunteers who work in the ministry. Those who are a part of the Ministry Staff are an extension of Drs. Leo and Elaine Hackett, Jr. All staff members have made a personal commitment, to help those who are bound with addictions, to obtain deliverance so that they can glorify God with their life-style. By walking in God’s best, they can exercise their God – given authority as believers, over temptations, circumstances and situations.
To provide those who are addicted with the spiritual information, revelation and examples necessary to make a change and grow spiritually.
To create an environment of accountability and responsibility so they may be honest in their short-comings and confess their victory over a particular substance or habit.
To provide family members and loved ones an atmosphere of love, strength, comfort and faith as they develop the skills needed to stand in the gap for their loved ones.
Our goal is to minister to the spiritual needs of the people in such a way that those who were once addicted and bound are walking in continual victory. As well as to see those standing for their loved ones, experience the peace and boldness of God as they apply the principles of tough love, confront their loved ones and stand in the gap for their deliverance.
SEVEN STEPS TO RECOVERY
The Addiction Recovery Ministry (ARM) is a ministry/support group that helps those who are experiencing challenges with drugs, alcohol, food or any substance abuse or chronic habit and offers help to their family members or significant others. The Addiction Recovery Ministry consists of seven (7) steps:
ADMITTING THE CHALLENGE - PSALM 51 : 3, 4 / 2 COR 7 : 10 / JOHN 1 : 9
The user recognizes that his addiction or misbehavior is destroying his life, relationships and future. He also realize that he is now powerless over his behavior and needs help to break the endless cycle of addiction.
COMMITMENT TO GOD - JOHN 3:3 / ROMANS 10 : 9-10
The user has accepted God’s gift of salvation, forgiveness, cleansing and deliverance through the blood of Jesus. He has also chosen to renounce his willful involvement with the devil through drugs and now chooses to operate his life in agreement with God’s Word. Therefore, he now makes a commitment to God because his help comes from God.
KNOWING ONE'S SELF - THESSALONIANS 5 : 23
The delivered individual now understands how he is made up. He is a spirit being, living in a physical body that possesses a soul. His soul is his mind, will, imagination, emotion and intellect. He knows that at salvation, only his spirit became new and alive to God. His mind must be renewed by the Word of God so that he can glorify God with his body and lifestyle. He also understands that it is his personal responsibility to control the desires of his flesh.
PRINCIPLES FOR CHANGE - HEBREWS 6 : 12
The delivered person is utilizing principles for behavior change and has developed a personal life change strategy. He understands that a natural example is critical to natural development and has acquired an appropriate role model. He understands that change occurs on purpose and that it is sustained with divine help. Because change is deliberate, not by chance but by design, he has established personal guidelines and pre-planned responses to temptation.A. Principle of Faith Confession – Romans 10: 17B. Principle of Purposeful Action – James 1: 22C. Principle of Dominate Influence – Proverbs 13: 20D. Principle of Tough Love Monitoring – Luke 15: 11-24 (Prodigal Son)
ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY - LUKE 14 : 28-30 / LUKE 12 : 48 B
Accountability always breeds predictability and security. The delivered person must always be accountable for his time and responsible for his actions. He should have someone with him as much as possible and should not go anywhere alone unless absolutely necessary. The delivered person willfully submits himself to his significant other and allows them to monitor his finances, movement and attitude. Finally, he must set up guidelines for his very own protection that will allow him to stay on course.
GROWING SPIRITUALLY - PROVERBS 4 : 20-23 / ROMANS 8 : 4 - 6
The delivered person must be actively involved in a Bible-believing, Bible-teaching church, so that he can continue to receive the Word of God. There can be no growth apart from God’s Word.
HELPING OTHERS - EPHESIANS 6 : 8
Helping others has always been the plan of God. God has always wanted the believers to be a benefit outside of them. It is the will of God that we implement obedience so that we may help others. After ninety days of a commitment to God the fruit of your doings should be noticed by others and you can begin to help others change. David, the psalmist understood that he could not be a help until his heart was right towards God. (Psalm 51: 10-13). Jesus prayed that your faith fail you not so that when you are now giving back to the Addiction Recovery Ministry by being involved through support group attendance, donations and serving.
THE 40 I AM'S
15 FREEDOM TRUTHS
Man IS A TRI-PART BEING
Confessing the 40 I AM’S on a daily basis will cause you to see yourself the way God sees you. When you begin to see yourself from God’s perspective, the opinions of others don’t offend you. You are who God says you are. >> DOWNLOAD
These fifteen freedom truths should be confessed daily to build the believer’s self- esteem. It is critical for the believer to see himself as God sees him. John the Baptist saw himself and spoke in agreement with the way God saw him. The discipline to speak God’s Word will transform your thinking; it will change how you see yourself and your faith level will soar.
As you see yourself differently, you will respond to others differently. Always remember there are two truths. What man or circumstances say and then what God says. Choose to believe God because your circumstances are only temporary and God is eternal. >> DOWNLOAD
